Quick Start Email Setup

We recommend setting up your device using IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). This is a method of connecting to the mail server and syncing your email account with your device. That allows you to connect to the email account on multiple devices and see the same messages.

Outgoing Mail Server

User name Your email address
Password Enter your email password

Add another Outgoing Mail Server

Often your internet service provider will block outgoing messages. To get around this problem, add the outgoing mail server information for your internet service provider. If using a mobile device you'll want to add both your home ISP and your mobile ISP server settings.

  1. Go to the Mail settings for the account
  2. Tap / click on Outgoing Mail Server
  3. Under Other SMTP Servers, tap / click Add Server…

  1. Enter your user name (your email address, same as above)
  2. Enter your password (same as above)
  3. Enter the settings below into the Host Name box that match your internet service provider
    • For telus use:
      smtp.telus.net
    • For Shaw use:
      mail.shaw.ca
    • For Xplorenet use:
      smtp.xplornet.ca
    • For Bell use:
      smtphm.sympatico.ca

other setup options

change your display name

switch to classic view
  1. Change the look to Classic View by using the option from the top right as shown in the image above. Click Updated View to toggle back to the Classic View.
  2. Click Settings > Personal Settings from the drop down menu
  3. From the Personal settings click the Identities tab
  4. Under the Actions column, click the edit button
  5. Modify Identity as desired and click OK when done

choose a recovery email

  1. Click Settings > Personal Settings
  2. Click the Security tab
  3. Under Security Options, type a Recovery Email
